Ensure fiscal responsibility and speak out against tax increases
- Real Estate Taxes
- There should be no increase in the rate of real estate taxes for working families.
- There should be no increase in the rate of real estate taxes for the outer boroughs.
- Our residents are often entitled to exemptions, and may not be aware that they are, or how to apply for them. Our council office will help people apply to get their exemption.
- Do not increase income, business income or excise taxes. Small businesses create jobs and are the lifeblood of the City’s economy. The less the burden and red tape, the better they will be successful in contributing to our recovery.
- We must reinstitute the Commuter Tax. We can no longer afford to be providing services to people who work in the city but live elsewhere --- this is not fair and was a grave economic loss for the city
