Senior citizens
Heidi Harrison Chain has worked for the seniors in our community and in the Council will continue to fight for seniors. Heidi is a proven community leader with a history of dedication to serving the members of our community. For years, Heidi has taken days off from work to visit our senior centers to educate our seniors on public safety, quality of life, and emergency preparedness issues. She has been called “one of our hardest working community leaders”.
Heidi is running to do the job for you. Heidi is coming to you as a community leader. Heidi is a lifelong member of the Democratic party.
Heidi Chain has worked hard for seniors. Among her many accomplishments, she:
- Developed the Safe Street Crossing Program to help seniors cross Queens Boulevard

- Implemented the Vial of Life Program in our community. With this program seniors have their medical information in their own homes in the event of an emergency. Heidi created magnets for each person’s refrigerator so that the first responders will be able to know the seniors' medical history, and personal contacts. Heidi has offered this life saving package for free to everyone in our community.
- Organized community blood drives and free health safety fairs.
- Continuously alerts the community about safety issues through emails, and letters and contributions to local newspapers
- Gives safety and emergency preparedness lectures to seniors.
- Helps seniors with their constituent issues. Heidi has helped people get meals.
- Helps people apply for their senior real estate tax exemptions
- Initiated free DMV driver safety courses for the community
- Partners with the senior centers on trips for the seniors
- Has personally given donations to support the senior centers
- Has written letters and advocated for the senior centers
We deserve a leader who has the knowledge and experience to deliver more for our community by tackling the difficult issues of today head on — that’s why she’s running.
Key components of Heidi Chain’s service will include:
- Heidi will establish a 24 hour hotline to resolve for your concerns and issues.
- We will designate a specific member of my staff to be devoted to helping constituents resolve problems with the government and advocate for the people of the district
- With a significant amount of information and required filings becoming computer submitted, we will provide computer assistance to constituents, especially to those affected by cutbacks in available computer services (e.g., those provided by libraries)
- We will assist constituents to identify and, where available, to apply for real estate rebates and exemptions.
